Among our attractions are the Galloway Forest Park, Dark Sky Park and proposed UNESCO Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere area, as well as 3 National Scenic Areas.

Wildlife fans can visit the Red Deer Range, the Wild Goat Park or the Red Kite Trail as well as several RSPB bird reserves and Osprey nesting sites. With Castle Douglas Food Town, Kirkcudbright Artists Town and Wigtown Book Town you're sure to find something to keep you busy.

Visit the world famous Gretna Green, catch a music festival, do the Spring Fling.

The area is home to many spectacular ruins and Historic Scotland sites, as well as old lead mining villages a Tibetan Monastery and numerous open gardens.

For the adrenaline junkies we have several outdoor centres and are also home to five of the 7 Stanes if mountain biking is more your scene.

You’ll find no fewer than 29 golf courses nestled in the hills or clinging the shore.

Dumfries and Galloway has a specatacular coastline stretching over 200 miles from Annan in the east to to the Mull of Galloway, Portpatrick and Stranraer in the west.

For walkers we have the Southern Upland Way, the Solway Heritage trail and more than a few decent peaks.
